Cambridge Airport new sponsors for the HR4.5 Charity Fun Run

Cambridge Airport, part of the Marshall’s Group, are delighted to announce that they are to be the new sponsors of the annual HR4.5 km annual charity run organised by Hills Road Sixth Form College staff and students. This is a fantastic event, bringing together Hills Road Sixth Form College students and staff and the local community. More importantly, every penny raised (over£40,000 to date) has been donated to local charities, including Wallace Cancer Care and the Teenage Cancer Trust. The funds raised from next year’s event will bedonated to the charity East Anglia Children’s Hospice.

Robert Marshall, Marshall Group Chief Executive commented “Since its foundation in Cambridge 1909, the Company has played a very full part in a wide range of community activities and this has particularly included providing encouragement, help and support for young people. This has enabled the Company to help build and sustain a strong skills base in the region. It is therefore an enormous pleasure to be supporting Hills Road Sixth Form College with their HR4.5 Fun Run.”

Each April a team of students and staff, some in fancy dress and most in the same brightly coloured t-shirts, enthusiastically run, jog or walk their way down Hills Road, Brooklands Avenue, Hobsons Brook, Long Road, Sedley Taylor Road, Luard Road and back to the College to complete the 4.5km circuit.

The fun run which was started in 2008, has gained pace each year in terms of the number of runners and money raised. Next year it will be taking place on Wednesday 17th April 2013
