Marshall of Cambridge Supporting Campaign to Protect Rural England Litter Campaign
Marshalls of Cambridge are throwing their weight behind the Campaign to Protect Rural England’s countryside litter initiative. Robert Marshall, Chief Operating Officer of Marshall of Cambridge and Chairman of Cambridge Airport, will be presenting a £500 cheque to the CPRE on Monday 5 September at 11.30am at the Marshall of Cambridge Head Office.
Mr Marshall said: ‘Since our foundation in the Motor Business 102 years ago, Marshall has always had a real care for the environment and has worked tirelessly to ensure that our land and property provide the very best appearance, so that they are enjoyed by both our employees and the local communities in which our businesses are based. At our Cambridge Airport site this has included careful stewardship of our boundaries and the planting of literally thousands of trees. We also work hard to remove other people’s litter from our land, and I am delighted that we are able to make a financial contribution to CPRE’s very important litter campaign.
Michael Hellowell, branch Co-ordinator of CPRE’s Anti-Litter Campaign said: “Considerable progress has been made in staging ‘Big Tidy Ups’ in and around Cambridge, in particular in the South Cambridgeshire villages. During the past two years we have recruited valuable help from CPRE members, Rotary International, Parish Councils and village volunteers – including many children. Essential litter picking equipment has been made available by CPRE to groups keen to keep their localities and villages free from mounting litter. Marshall’s generous contribution will allow us to buy new kits so we can continue our campaign – and hopefully spread it to other parts of the County.”
